Chicago 2015 Municipal Elections

In addition to the office of mayor, Chicago voters will also cast their ballots for the following municipal offices: -City Clerk -City Treasurer -City Council (i.e., Alderman in each of Chicago's 50 Wards)

If no candidate receives a majority of the votes in any of those contests, a run-off election will be held between the two candidates who received the most votes on Tuesday, April 7th in those races.

Chicago voters also will determine on their ballots various advisory/non-binding referenda, both citywide and specific wards: -Whether employers should be required to offer paid leave in the event of illness, domestic violence or an emergency school closing (citywide) -Whether workers who commit domestic violence should be required to receive treatment as a condition of continued employment (citywide) -Whether Chicago or Illinois should seek a system of campaign finances that involve a mix of small, private contributions and public funding (citywide) -Whether to elect the Chicago School Board (in 39 of the 50 wards)

We suggest you to view local newspapers, campaign sites, and other advocacy groups to gauge which candidate may best serve you and your community.

Last Day for Early Voting: Come Vote With CAIR-Chicago!

CAIR-Chicago encourages all citizens to exercise their civil rights, so we’re joining other groups throughout the city in mobilizing voters on the final day for Early Voting—Saturday, February 21st.

The plan: Meet at our office between 12-1 PM and we’ll all go as a group to the Chicago Board of Elections (69 W. Washington St., 6th Floor, Chicago, 60602)—two blocks away.  Thereafter, we’ll return to the office to discuss what we can do as Chicago citizens to make the city better for all.  Contact Gerald Hankerson, Outreach Coordinator at ghankerson@cair.com by 5 PM on Friday if you plan to show up and go to the polls this Saturday, February 21st, and make a difference in our city.

If you can’t join us downtown, you can find your closest early voting site, just be sure to check for hours since each location varies.  If no ballots are available at the office of the election authority, you can vote by mail.
