Chicago Public Schools Project
Since 2014, CAIR-Chicago has been working with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) as well as numerous private and suburban public school districts on numerous projects to promote inclusion and understanding about Islam and the Muslim community.
These projects include:
1.Individual Connection: schools reach out to CAIR-Chicago for a variety of training for parents, faculty, and students, including:
Know Your Rights
Cultural Sensitivity Training
Muslim Background Seminar
2. Partnership with Community in Schools (CIS): CIS connects CAIR-Chicago with CPS school partners to offer various programming for school students.
3. Student Rights: School bullying is unfortunately common in our schools and Muslim youth are often targets. CAIR-Chicago meets and advocates to schools and districts to ensure that students’ rights are protected and that they are included and not isolated due to their religion or race.
Drop the ADL from Schools: Defending Educators & Students
The Drop the ADL from Schools campaign is a nationwide effort to protect K-12 educators, librarians, and students from false accusations of antisemitism and to challenge the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) harmful influence in school systems. While the ADL presents itself as a civil rights organization, its track record includes restricting critical discussions on systemic racism, distorting definitions of antisemitism to suppress Palestinian advocacy, and pressuring schools to adopt biased policies.
Explore the Toolkit to Defend K-12 Educators and Librarians and other critical resources shared during the recent Drop ADL from Schools meeting. These materials offer guidance on protecting academic freedom, advocating for just educational policies, and resisting efforts to silence educators and students.
