Ahmed Rehab
Executive Director
Ahmed Rehab is CAIR-Chicago's Executive Director. Rehab is a regular contributor to the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Public Radio. Rehab is the founder of MyJihad Inc., a global PR and outreach campaign that seeks to take back Islam from Muslim and Anti-Muslims extremists alike. He is also the founder of theChicagoMonitor.com, The Muslim Youth Leadership Symposium, and the Co-founder of Bridge Initiative at Georgetown University. Prior to joining CAIR in August of 2004, Rehab was a freelance speaker, writer, and activist in the fields of interfaith collaboration, education, and community outreach. Between 1999 and 2002, Rehab served as a consultant for Arthur Andersen LLP – a global consulting firm. Rehab served on the board of the Illinois Coalition of Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR). He also served on IL. Governor Pat Quinn’s Muslim Advisory Council, and as vice-chairman of RefugeeONE, Illinois’ premiere refugee resettlement organization. He is a former board member and secretary of the Egyptian American Society, a member of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs’ (CCGA) Muslim task force, an Eisenhower fellow of the American Assembly, and alumnus of the FBI Citizen’s Academy. Maggie Slavin
Operations Manager
Maggie Slavin is the Operations Manager at CAIR-Chicago. Maggie graduated from Saint Mary's College (Indiana) with a degree in Communications and Arabic before becoming a New York City Teaching Fellow in 2015. Upon graduation from the Teaching Fellows program, Maggie was selected as a Fulbright scholar to Jordan from the U.S. Department of State in 2016 where she developed educational programming for Syrian refugees and served as a cultural ambassador for the United States. After her Fulbright year, Maggie continued as a classroom teacher for 4 more years at a public high school in Brooklyn, New York where she developed the school's first Arabic language class. Upon moving to Chicago in 2021, she taught in Chicago Public Schools for 2 years and served as a delegate to the Chicago Teacher's Union before joining CAIR-Chicago. Hafsa Haider
Communications Coordinator
Hafsa Haider is Communications Coordinator at CAIR-Chicago. She studied Anthropology and Diversity & Global Studies from Florida Atlantic University. She is passionate about diverse cultures and advocating for marginalized communities, leveraging her interest in storytelling for those with voices unheard. Prior to her role at CAIR-Chicago, Hafsa served as an Executive Assistant at The Guatemalan-Maya Center, a grassroots organization dedicated to assisting the Indigenous Maya community in South Florida. Outside of work, Hafsa enjoys traveling, like the summer she spent researching in Ecuador while practicing her Spanish skills and whale watching along the rural coast. Jordan Esparza-Kelley
Communications Coordinator
Jordan Esparza-Kelley is a Communications Coordinator at CAIR-Chicago. Jordan is a Social Work student at NEIU, with his interests predominantly being in the realm of policy. When reflecting on why he joined CAIR, Jordan says “Doing good work for an important cause was my biggest motivation in pursuing the Communications Coordinator position at CAIR-Chicago. I felt that I could make a contribution to something bigger than me here, while growing and developing through all of the work we do”. For the past decade Jordan has been working as a photographer, photojournalist, videographer and strategist. He brings with him an uncompromising voice and a decade of experience in storytelling and visual arts; joining us at CAIR after his tenure as Navy Pier’s photographer. Jordan loves to film the sunset on the beach with his drone, read, bike, try new foods, and watch lectures. Many artistic and scholastic endeavors are ahead of Jordan, including showing his photography work in galleries in 2025, while continuing to complete his BSW. Heena Musabji
Legal Director
Heena Musabji is the Legal Director at CAIR-Chicago. She leads the civil rights legal team to seek justice for those who face religious discrimination. Heena is co-founder of Pro Bono Network (PBN), a legal aid nonprofit organization that brings attorneys to those in dire need of civil legal assistance. Her leadership and vision are key reasons for PBN’s growth. Previously, Heena was the principal attorney at Musabji Law Offices focusing on civil rights and immigration and nationality law. Prior she was a partner at Amal Law Group leading the immigration department. Heena was CAIR-Chicago’s first staff attorney counseling its constituency on civil rights and immigration. During and after law school, Heena served as director of the Sex Trafficking Opposition and Prevention Project with the International Human Rights Institute where she worked on legislation and advocacy for minors forced into the sex tourism industry in Costa Rica. She worked with the National Immigrant Justice Center throughout law school and continues with the organization as a volunteer. She serves on the School District 181 Foundation board, the board of Unity Academy of Chicago, and her mosque. Joseph Milburn, Esq.
Staff Attorney
Joseph Milburn is CAIR-Chicago’s Staff Attorney. He was born and raised in Saint Louis and he graduated from DePaul University College of Law where he obtained a Certificate in Public Interest Law. He has also worked and volunteered with a handful of non-profit organizations throughout Chicago. During law school, Joseph was President of the Muslim Law Student's Association where he coordinated and hosted events with other student organizations on various topics of interest to the law school community. Most notably during law school he was a law clerk for CAIR-Chicago. In his spare time he is presently in the process of learning the Arabic language and has volunteered to help individuals with disabilities such as Autism and ADHD. Shagufta Syeda
Legal Associate
Shagufta Syeda joined as CAIR-Chicago’s Legal Associate after most recently serving as a law clerk with CAIR-Chicago. She is a recent graduate from UCLA School of Law where she completed her LL.M. and specialized in Human Rights Law with a Pro Bono Distinction. She aspires to become a civil rights and human rights law attorney after clearing the Bar Exam. Her aim is to contribute to the advocacy for challenging oppressive and discriminatory practices, increased access to legal aid, and the fair and just representation of people from different communities facing institutional discrimination and systemic oppression. She also wishes to work towards integrating intersectionality into the field of legal advocacy. Shagufta’s hobbies include organizing and managing programs and events, participating in and organizing conferences on international law/human rights/civil rights, travelling, volunteering, doing charity work, and exploring new cultures and cuisines. Jeneen Suiafan
Outreach Coordinator
Jeneen Suiafan is CAIR-Chicago’s Administrative Assistant. She graduated from William Paterson University’s Honors college in 2022 with a Psychology major and Anthropology minor. Jeneen is a proud Palestinian and is intrinsically motivated to serve her own community and all intersectionalities of her identity. She has over three years of experience in the non-profit sector in various roles. She has served the Middle Eastern and South Asian populations through her work at Wafa House, a culturally specific domestic violence agency in NJ, and the Arab-American Family Support Center in Brooklyn, NY. Mohamed Radwan
Special Operations Coordinator
Mohamed Radwan is a multi-talented Egyptian filmmaker and musician who brings a rich tapestry of cultural influences to his creative endeavors. Born and raised in Egypt, Radwan developed a passion for storytelling and music from a young age, immersing himself in the vibrant arts scene of his homeland. Whether he's behind the camera or in the studio, Mohamed Radwan brings a fresh perspective and a wealth of talent to everything he does. His work has been celebrated at film festivals around the world, and his music has captivated audiences both in Chicago and beyond. Currently based in Chicago, Mohamed Radwan continues to push the boundaries of his creativity, using his art to bridge cultures, spark conversations, and inspire audiences to see the world in new ways. Bassam Arnaout
Outreach Advisor
Originally from Syria, Bassam understands the importance of the advocacy work that CAIR does for the Muslim community. He graduated with a B.A. in Sociology and Economics from UIC. As the Outreach Coordinator, Bassam plays a pivotal role in building relationships with local communities, organizations, and individuals who share CAIR’s mission. Bassam also uses his experience as a former educator to inspire high school and college students to navigate their career choices in the civil rights field. Sufyan Sohel, Esq.
Senior Advisor of Special Projects
Sufyan Sohel serves as CAIR-Chicago’s Senior Advisor of Special Projects. Sufyan is a trained mediator and facilitator, and speaks frequently on topics of social justice, civil rights, and diversity. Before CAIR-Chicago, he worked with DePaul University‘s International Human Rights Law Institute and the Egyptian Center for Women’s Rights where he researched global human rights abuses, with a focus on gender violence, and helped develop rule of law, community education, and advocacy programs alongside international partners.
Sufyan earned his undergraduate degree from Tulane University and holds a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and a Master of Science in Finance (M.S.) from DePaul University. Sufyan is a Cook County Human Rights Commissioner and on the board of directors for the Chicago Access Network Television (CAN-TV), the Greater Chicago Legal Clinic, and ACLU of Illinois, where he serves as the organization’s Affiliate Equity Officer. He proudly serves on the Chicago City Clerk’s Civic Engagement Advisory Council, the Red Cross of Illinois Diversity & Inclusion Task Force, and the DePaul Law Diversity Council, and is a volunteer magician with Open Heart Magic. Sufyan is a recipient of the Chicago Bar Association’s Vanguard Award, the DePaul College of Law Young Alumnus Award, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Community Leadership Award, and is a 2018 Fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago.
