Action Alert: Chicago, Stop Genocide in India; Tell Alders to Support City Resolution
Currently, India's democracy is threatened by right-wing nationalists who have created policies that foster discrimination against Muslims, farmers, Kashmiris, Dalits, indigenous peoples, and other minorities and occupied people.
The current administration under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has passed legislation limiting citizenship based on faith, marriage based on faith, infringing on native land, and instituting the final steps of settler colonialism. Additionally, they've pushed misinformation online and through rallies with the intent of sowing hate among the Indian public, leading to mob attacks on Muslims throughout the country.
CAIR-Chicago, along with other members of The Chicago Coalition for Human Rights in India, are pushing for the City of Chicago to recognize these atrocities infringing on human rights, labor rights, and the basic tenets of democracy in India.
Chicago City Council will vote on passing a pro-farmer, pro-human rights, pro-equality Resolution on India NEXT WEEK – and we need your help!!
WE NEED 15 MINS FROM YOU TO PASS THE RESOLUTION NEXT WEEK! Please share with your colleagues & networks.
