CAIR-Chicago Condemns Threats Against Muslim-Owned Business "Naaz Studios"

- For Immediate Release -

(CHICAGO, IL, 6/7/2024) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations, Chicago Chapter (CAIR-Chicago), strongly condemns the reprehensible threats made against Naaz Studios, a Muslim-owned business in our community. On June 4th, Naaz Studios received a disturbing letter containing pro-Israel sentiments and demands to remove pro-Palestinian signs displayed proudly in the shop's window.

"These threatening actions against Naaz Studios are not only an attack on a local business but also an attack on the values of inclusivity, diversity, and freedom of expression that we cherish in our society. It is unacceptable for any business, including those owned by members of the Muslim community, to be targeted in such a hateful manner," CAIR-Chicago Executive Director, Ahmed Rehab said.

As an organization dedicated to defending the civil rights of Muslims and promoting understanding and tolerance, CAIR-Chicago stands in solidarity with Naaz Studios and all those who have been targeted by bigotry and intimidation. We call on law enforcement authorities to thoroughly investigate this incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.

We urge the community to come together in support of Naaz Studios and to reject all forms of hate and discrimination. Now, more than ever, it is essential that we stand united against attempts to intimidate and silence marginalized voices.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact CAIR-Chicago at (312) 212-1520 or by email at info@cairchicago.org
