International Day of Support for Survivors of Torture

CAIR-Chicago is joining local advocacy groups to co-sponsor an event in support of the International Day of Support for Survivors of Torture on Friday, June 26th. WHAT: International Day of Support for Survivors of Torture | American Torture Story: Where's the Accountability?

WHEN: Friday, June 26th from 12:00-2:00 PM

WHERE: Federal Plaza, located in the rear of Kluczynski Federal Building at 230 S. Dearborn St. between Adams St. and Jackson Blvd.

WHO: Event partners include Amnesty International, We Charge Genocide, World Can’t Wait, the Chicago Coalition to Shut Down Guantanamo, and CAIR-Chicago. Proposed speakers include local, federal and international torture survivors, as well legal advocates and supporters

The event will highlight efforts to fight torture by governments, law enforcement, military and other affiliates here in Chicago, the United States and around the world. While intended to be festive and celebratory by honoring the survivors of torture and recent victories, the goal is to convey a message of continued pressure for accountability and continued support for people still suffering from torture. For more info and to RSVP, visit the event’s Facebook page.
