CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab to Speak at ISNA Convention - July 1-4
The ISNA Convention is a meeting place of people and ideas, where American Muslims discuss their role in society, politics, media, activism, and education. The event will feature numerous world renowned scholars and Muslim leaders. CAIR-Chicago's executive director, Ahmed Rehab, will be presenting on two panels over the weekend. On Saturday, Rehab will be presenting to youth groups on the importance of staying abreast of current events and contributing to society, and on Sunday he will discuss how social media is making a difference within the realm of activism, media outreach and pluralism.
Sun-Times: Muslim convention to shine a light on hate: Survey of 3,000 to track effects of Islamophobia
"The survey will be asking about 3,000 respondents how Islamophobia has affected them and to identify where they see the most examples of it," Amina Sharif, Chicago spokeswoman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said Thursday. "Chicago is a diverse metropolis, but that doesn't mean we're exempt from racial and ethic tensions."
CAIR-Chicago Announces New Board Chairman - Mazen Kudaimi
CAIR-Chicago would like to announce that Dr. Mazen Kudaimi has accepted the position of Chairman of CAIR-Chicago's Board of Directors. Read more about Dr. Kudaimi HERE. CAIR-Chicago also says goodbye to its former Chairman, Safaa Zarzour, who will now be serving as the Secretary General of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). He will be missed.
