Cherif Bassiouni, distinguished research professor at DePaul University and CAIR-Chicago's Honorary Chairman, will be speaking at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs about his book "The Institutionalization of Torture by the Bush Administration. Is Anyone Responsible?" Bassiouni will hold a small presentation along with a discussion afterward.

Six years after being barred from coming to the U.S. to teach at the University of Notre Dame, the Muslim scholar Tariq Ramadan spoke Saturday in suburban Oakbrook Terrace, attributing his presence to new "channels for dialogue" between the U.S. and Islamic scholars and telling American Muslims to treat the U.S. as their home.

CAIR-Chicago's Executive Director today attended a private reception for Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed at DePaul University in advance of the Somali President's speech at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. About 20 academics and civic leaders were in attendance.
